Preface to “A holistic concept of cancer therapy” 

Dr. Wolfgang Woeppel, the founder and first medical director of the Hufeland Klinik, can be rightly called a pioneer of gentle, naturopathically oriented cancer therapy. He was one of the first to base his solution-oriented medical treatment programme on the increasingly holistic perception of illness in our time.

His contributions can not yet be comprehensively recognised or even evaluated right now, just a year after his premature death in July of 2006. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from him. To me his life’s work was ground breaking. His expanded our point of view by looking at human beings and their diseases as a unit. His work extended the boundaries of a form of medicine that persists in applying a natural scientific approach that makes false claims of objectivity and has been misinterpreted.

We have decided to use the following pages just the way he wrote them. Though a few sections have been updated, we have maintained Dr. Woeppel’s “original sound” that quite clearly reveals his extraordinary competence, critical honestly – and last, though certainly not least, the vision of a truly great physician.
